A South African born composer at home with large-scale symphonic works and concertos to chamber music for varying ensembles, Keith imbues his work with intentional clarity and vigour.
In 2009 he formed the Paz Consort to promote the works of young South African composers and directed the ensemble until 2014 premiering over 24 new compositions. After winning the SAMRO Overseas scholarship in 2010 he established himself as one of the leading composers in his generation. He was the first recipient of the Stefans Grové National competition in 2011 and again in 2016, winning first place on both occasions.
Keith has received several commissions worldwide and continues to write extensively for chamber ensembles. He has been the program director of music for the Cool Capital Biennale 2014, an adjudicator for the NEA and the editor for the University of SA exam syllabi. In 2018 he was invited to have an orchestral work premiered in Brazil, as well as record a new chamber work in the São Paulo Contemporary Composers Festival.
